In December 2019 Cindy Carter gained her wings and won her battle with cancer.
Cindy was most known for her passion in helping everyone she met. She was the one who always saw the good in someone.
Cindy headed up the Safe Harbor Faith-Works Program where she put several thousand people to work who are still employed today. Cindy loved people and was quick to lend an ear. She would sit and talk for hours if it meant helping someone. Cindy is greatly missed, but we know God sure gained an angel.
Cindy was also heavily involved in fundraising for Safe Harbor. Fundraising is a vital part of Safe Harbor, which is a Non-Profit organization. In 2019 Safe Harbor housed 1,138 men and fed 1.5 million meals. The money raised through our events help to meet the needs of the clients in our programs, like hygiene products, clothing, educational tools, building renovations, mattresses, etc.
In 2021 we would like to give “The Cindy Carter Award” to the person who raises the most money for Safe Harbor. The money raised will go towards our Cindy Carter Ring of Excellence Award for one client from each city who graduates, stays steadfast in their sobriety, and who acts as a role model to other clients of Safe Harbor. Each recipient of the “Cindy Carter Ring of Excellence” will come back to their graduation city at their 365 day anniversary mark to speak to the clients & receive their award.
Fundraising for the Cindy Carter Award will close Friday Jan 15, 2021. The Battle in the Saddle recipient who raises the most money will receive a beautiful buckle and certificate. Recipient to be announced on Sunday, Jan 17, 2021 at Memphis Battle in the Saddle.
